This week I was reading and reflecting on the word of Yehova God in the book of Malachi.The book of prophet Malachi is the last book in the old testament in the bible.Note that The heavenly father was very annoyed with the human race at that time and soon after Malachi chapters 1-4 were written God went silent for 400 years:with no more revelation to the children of Israel.The book of Mormon,however records what happened between BC 600-AD 400 and records what happened over those 400 years missing from the bible and that’s why the book of Mormon is called an abridged scripture.
The first chapter of Malachi starts with a self Introduction by Malachi and that he brought the word of God.He explains that the children of Israel where doubting God’s love to them.God says that He loves whom He wants and hates whom He likes.He loved Jacob/Israel and hated Esau and his descendants.
God complained about the quality of offerings that the Israelites offered and said that they broke the covenant/agreement between Him and them.They were supposed to honour him as a father and master by offering acceptable offerings and He would bless them with healing, strength,prosperity and power to trample on the wicked.God was so annoyed that He wished that someone would lock up the temple doors to stop people from offering lame,diseased and deplorable gifts.He asked if the people could possibly offer such gifts to earthly rulers/kings.
God warned priests as leaders that they would be cursed if they didn’t honour Him,be a good example and if they didn’t help widows, orphans,the homeless and other preachers.God said He hates divorce, injustice and withholding 10% tithes and other offerings.
Finally, God said He hates arrogance.He promised to help and bless the just,renew the original agreement/covenant and sent Elijah to ‘turn the hearts of the children to the fathers and the hearts of fathers to the children,dead or alive.
What we learn from the book of Malachi is that:we need to honour God by being righteous, offering 10% tithe, offerings from the heart,avoid divorce,priests/leaders to take care of widows, orphans,the homeless and other church leaders and be faithful.
